The Convenient Way of Going to Gili Trawangan from Bali

Gilli Trawangan is one of the popular Islands in Indonesia. It serves the best vacationing spot for most travellers coming to Bali, Indonesia. The place is best suited for swimming in crystal clear waters, pool cocktails, seaside BBQ and many more fun activities. However, reaching Gilli Trawangan from Bali takes two ways. One is through fast boats and other is by air. The two ways are further explained below –

Bali to Gili Trawangan by Boat

Bali to Gili Trawangan boat can be hired from Bali. The tickets can be bought through various tour agencies and fast boat companies in Bali. The tickets could cost from several hundred Indonesian Rupee to thousand IDR. Most boats leave from Bali to Gili in the morning, from 8 AM to 11 AM. It is therefore recommended to plan your journey in the morning. You will rarely see any boats sailing during afternoon hours. The boat hardly takes 1.5 to 2 hrs to reach Padang Bai in Bali. Once you reach to Padang Bai, there are many mini buses going to Gilli Trawangan. The buses also leave for Seminayak, Nusa Dua, Ubud and Kuta. It won’t take an hour long to reach your hotel or place in Gilli Trawangan.

The boat option is however available in three modes i.e. fast boats, private charter boats and public ferry. Picking up a public ferry will cost you a long journey as it takes minimum two different boats to reach the island. Whereas you can reach in less time with fast boats and private charter boats however, that could cost you some extra cash.

Going By Air

Traveling to Gili Trawangan by air can be done through private air charters and domestic flights. Getting to the Gili islands via air isn’t just a way to arrive in style, it also gives you a chance to see Bali and the Gilis from above and snap a few award winning aerial photos of the islands.

However, between two choices, most travelers prefer fast boats to reach Gili Islands. The reason is quite simple- the boat route is short, affordable and gives you more view then flights. You can sail through the waves of Bali, feel the cool breezes and take sun bath in an open roof.
