Wu Yulu, a farmer in suburban Beijing, has spent over 30 years building a 63-strong army of robots from scrap metal.
The homemade machines can perform various functions: walking, pulling a rickshaw and even playing chess. And Wu seems to love them as much as he loves his own kids, giving his surname to all the robots.
Wu has received many prizes and contracts from universities, and was even invited to show off his ’bots at the Shanghai Expo. But he has never let the acclaim go his head – he still lives in his modest village home, surrounded by pieces of junk metal and doll parts that are friends in the making.Source=
